Secondhand Smoke and Periodontal Disease: Atherosclerosis Risk in Community Study

Did you know that secondhand smoke can increase your chances for periodontal disease? The American Journal of Public Health recently published a study comparing periodontal health of nonsmokers with little to no exposure to second hand smoke and nonsmokers with a few hours of exposure to secondhand smoke daily. Those exposed to some amount of secondhand smoke had a higher prevalence of severe periodontitis.  Check out the link below for the full article.
